The Margarita is a delicious cocktail created in 1938 for an exotic dancer named Margarita, by Carlos "Danny" Herrera at his restaurant, Rancho La Gloria—or so the internet claims. I'm convinced Carlos was a Mexican pirate because the cocktail is nothing short of fucking delicious and legendary.
The Ingredients for the Margarita:
2.5 oz Gold Tequila
1 oz Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
0.5 oz Simple Syrup or Agave Syrup (if you're fancy like that)
0.5 oz Grand Marnier
Instructions:
On the Rocks: Pour the contents into a shaker over ice, and shake for about 30 seconds to chill the cocktail. Pour the cocktail over crushed ice into a rocks glass.
Frozen: Pour the contents into a blender over ice, and blend for about 30 seconds until the ice is sufficiently crushed. Pour the cocktail into a Margarita or martini glass.
My Review of the Margarita:
I was only six years old the first time I gazed into my uncle’s beautiful girlfriend’s eyes and took a sip of her Margarita, before dancing the night away... It was at that very moment that I transitioned from a boy to a man. A time so precious yet so long ago that I can no longer remember her name. This recipe is the very one that was taught to me that evening by that beautiful Latina woman. She learned it, as I did, gazing into the eyes of forbidden love. The Margarita, the ultimate aphrodisiac.
Also... sometimes it causes heartburn.
Rating: 5/5. It’s a Margarita! Were you expecting anything less?
The Old Fashioned is one of the original cocktails and was created sometime in the 1700s... or 1830’s... Sometime between then. No one is really sure
